Midwest Treffen 14
Midwest Treffen was conceived as a family reunion for Volkswagen and Audi owners and enthusiasts and has grown to be the Midwest's largest event of its kind.
DCI Registration
The DCI will be held during Midwest Treffen 2010 in Chicagoland on August 21 & 22. The CVO developed this weekend event with the intent of fostering interaction, cooperation, friendship and healthy competition between the numerous grassroots VW and Audi enthusiast clubs that have grown in recent years.
The premise of the DCI is simple. Your club competes in 3 different events - an autocross, a dynamometer (dyno) competition, and a car show. Points are awarded based on finishing position in each event and the winning club is crowned DCI champion for the year.
The eligibility requirements for participation in the Dub Club Invitational are as follows:
- Operate as an established ‘open enrollment’ club, allowing anyone to join who wishes to do so (provided they meet any applicable club defined car ownership rules).
-
Be able to field an entry in each of the 3 DCI events – Autocross, Dyno Event, Car Show.
Receive this invitation to the event from the Chicago Volkswagen Organization.
- Complete and mail registration with payment of $100 (covers entry in three events) payable to the Chicago Volkswagen Organization by August 15, 2010
Round 1 – Treffen Autocross
Each club will choose their best auto crossing member/car to compete in the DCI class at the Treffen Autocross. This is a straight up time competition, with no indexing. The fastest time wins. The event will be run per the CVO Autocross Rules, except that car classifications are not applicable. As you might expect the car must be owned by a club member, and must be driven by a club member. The only requirement is that the car be a VW or Audi – modifications are unlimited including tires. The competitor is responsible for providing an appropriate helmet which must be rated– SA2000 or better.
The schedule for this event is as follows:
Saturday Morning – August 21, 2010 @ Oakton Community College, Des Plaines, IL
- 7:30-8:30am - AX Registration
- 11:00am – DCI Class Cars run
Round 2 – Dynamometer Competition
Each club will choose what they feel to be their highest HP member/car to compete in a ‘highest HP’ dyno competition. Details of the event are still in the works, but the basic idea is that each club will submit a member car to be run on a dyno at Treffen with DCI points being awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. The only requirement is that the car be member owned and be a VW or Audi. DCI competitors will not be responsible for any event fees related to the DCI as they are included in the club entry fee.
The schedule for this event is as follows:
Saturday Afternoon – August 21, 2010 @ Mobile One Inc, Glenview, IL
Round 3 – Treffen Car Show
Each club will choose a member car to represent their club in the DCI Class at the Treffen VW/Audi Car Show. We all know that there are beautiful cars out there, so let’s see how yours stacks up to the competition. The only requirement is that the car be member owned and be a VW or Audi. The class is the only show class that will be judged by a panel of judges. DCI Class car owners may also compete in the general Treffen car show, if they choose to enter their respective class.
The schedule for this event is as follows:
Sunday Morning – August 22, 2010 @ Oakton Community College, Des Plaines, IL
- 9:00am – 10:30am DCI Car Show registration
- 10:45am – 11:45am DCI Show Car Judging
- 11:45 am – DCI car owners can move cars to show or club parking
Overall Event Scoring
Points are awarded based on finishing position in each event as follows:
- 1st place = 10 points
- 2nd place = 8 points
- 3rd place = 6 points
- 4th place = 4 points
- 5th place = 2 points
- 6th or greater place = 1 points
The club with the most points over the 3 events wins the Midwest Treffen Dub Club Invitational. Any ties will be broken by comparing the number of events won. The resulting champion will be crowned at the awards ceremony following the Treffen Show. The winning club will receive $200 and will be given possession of the CVO’s Dub Club Invitational trophy.
